This book recommended plants on the California "Invasive Plant List".
Love this book. Heard it recommended on local radio gardening program. Just what I need here in Bay Area. Have all ready done my backyard in succulents and cactus and looking great. Would recommend this book to anyone who would like to cut back on water.

Saw this author on a garden program in Austin. This area can get very dry and water can be restricted.
NOT recommended other than for the photos and identification help. Gilmer does not ever give the in depth info that people need when designing a garden. She advocates the use of Agave americana without mentioning that they become huge, dangerous to work around, and they spread until they create an expensive mess to remove from your garden. She does not tell novices that Nassella tenuissima (Mexican Feather Grass) is so invasive that you will be pulling the seedlings for years to come. There is no warning that Vinca major never looks good unless it is flooded with water and is impossible to eradicate even when it looks like it is dying of thirst.
